What this tool does
This tool converts an amount from one currency to another using live exchange rates, fetched from the European Central Bank's daily reference rates as you pick currencies. Choose an amount and two currencies, or use the swap button to flip direction, and the converted amount and current exchange rate update automatically. This is the one tool on ToolsYard that needs an internet connection — every other tool runs entirely offline, but live currency rates can only come from a live source.

How often are rates updated?
Rates come from the European Central Bank via the Frankfurter API and are published once per business day (rates don't update on weekends or ECB holidays), which is accurate enough for everyday budgeting and comparison shopping. For time-sensitive transactions like wiring money or trading, check with your bank or broker for their exact live rate, which typically includes a small margin over the reference rate shown here.
