What this tool does
This tool converts a value between common units of length, weight, temperature, and volume, updating the result live as you type. Pick a category, choose the unit you're converting from and to, and enter a value — there's no separate "convert" button, and a swap button lets you flip direction in one click. All conversion happens locally in your browser using standard conversion factors.
Example use case
Unit conversion comes up constantly when following a recipe written in a different measurement system, converting a shipping weight from kilograms to pounds, checking a temperature reading between Celsius and Fahrenheit, or converting a distance from miles to kilometers for a road trip abroad.
A note on precision
Results are calculated using standard conversion factors (for example, exactly 2.54 centimeters per inch) and displayed rounded to a reasonable number of significant digits. For most everyday and cooking purposes this precision is more than enough; for scientific or engineering work, verify against an authoritative source.
