Tip Calculator
Enter the bill, pick a tip percentage, and split it between everyone at the table.
What this tool does
This tool calculates a tip from a bill amount and a percentage, adds it to get the total, and — if more than one person is splitting the check — divides that total evenly to show what each person owes. Pick one of the common tip percentages or type a custom one, and every number updates live as you change any field.
Example use case
A group of four goes out to dinner and the bill comes to $85. Instead of everyone mentally computing 18% and dividing by four (and inevitably disagreeing on the result), entering the bill, tip percentage, and party size here gives an exact tip amount, total, and per-person share in one glance.
What tip percentage is normal?
In the United States, 15–20% is the typical range for sit-down restaurant service, with 18–20% common for good service and 20%+ for exceptional service; 10% or less is generally read as a sign of poor service. Norms vary a lot by country — tipping is far less common or built into the price in many places outside North America — so adjust the percentage to whatever's customary where you are.
